My Confetti Heart is so excited about featuring a wedding at a new venue.
I love how the details are kept simple, minimalist and clean not taking any focus away from the venue.
Clare, being an architect, used her creativity and skills incorporating them into the venue as well as their stationery. A seating plan that is just so very unique.
We won't bore you with our love story but basically we started our journey in 2011, where we first met at a friend’s braai in Port Elizabeth. Colin, being a farmer was braaing, ofcourse.
Ever since, we have been at it, making the most of every moment we have with each other. We both have driven what feels like "around the world" for each other doing 6 years of long distance between Grahamstown and Port Elizabeth and then Grahamstown and East London. The Good news is that the long distance has come to an end and we have started a new life on the farm together. Happy Farmer!
We both have two different lifestyles and careers we have had to make huge sacrifices, which hasn't been easy but nothing compares to the love we share, which has built a solid foundation to our relationship and has guided us to respect and support each other through every decision.
We can also say that in 6 years we have made what feels like a lifetime of memories which we are lucky enough to say that they include all our favourite hobbies. We love; travelling, hunting, fishing and looking after our very special girl, Minki, and let’s not forget drinking G&T's.
Colin proposed on the 3rd January 2018 on my parents farm, the now new Heritage Kraal, where we got married.
He managed to keep it a complete surprise from me at our family photo shoot. I had no idea. It is extra special for us to say we got engaged and married at Heritage Kraal.
We have now finally made it official, even between all the chaos.
We had the best day of our lives.
How I chose my dress
I tried on a number of dresses at boutiques in CT, PE and EL but I just didn’t find a dress that was truly unique to “me”.
I wanted something that represented who I am, as an Architect, I guess I just wanted something a bit different and more creative.
Kelly MAE Bespoke was the perfect person to make my dream dress come to life, it was exactly what I wanted and I am still blown away at how unique and special it turned out.
What inspired my wedding style
I am a huge earthy, outdoor lover. I love the natural earthy tones that South Africa presents to us. I wanted to incorporate them into our special day, whites, nudes, greenery and navy just work so well together with warm wood tones and a modern Style farm Venue.
Proudly South African details from our day was the white protea which we also used on the bottles of the table from “protea wines”.
My parents farm has always been a hidden gem in the heart of the wild coast. I always had this dream and vision to turn the place into something spectacular.
Being an Architect, and with a mind that is always thinking of ideas, it was not long after my sister and I both got engaged, 3 weeks a part, we starting thinking of where we both should get married.
After much thought we both decided, why not the family farm in Kei Mouth. It was soon after we decided to venture into the unknown and develop the farm into a Wedding Venue for both of our weddings.
Weeks and hours of planning and designing, the process was a difficult one. I had the freedom to design with a blank canvas, the opportunities were endless but with a tight budget.
In the end I managed to transform what was rack and ruin into a beautiful wedding venue. The process was extremely special, “when it’s your own. It’s close to home”. Every bit of detail was carefully thought out to create this magical place where people will make the best memories of their lives.
We were lucky enough to finish it all in time just before my own special day, it was such a rush, but the reward was so worth it. I couldn’t be more proud of this special place and I can’t wait for couples, families and friends to make their special memories there.
