Bryan & Caroline

In general I love weddings, call me slightly wedding obsessed, it's okay. The love between the couple mixed with a little bit of nerves, the excitement of guests, waiting in anticipation.  It's one day where everyone is happy and nothing else matters, but the love and celebration of the newly weds.

When I read all about Bryan and Caroline's wedding day it pulled on every corner of my heart, and seeing the photos brought everything to life! I love that this wedding is rustic, intimate, and not only rustic but proudly South African, not ONLY proudly South African but proudly East London with its unique little details.

A classic tale of he said, she said : Bryan and Caroline met out at Queensberry Bay about 9 years ago through mutual friends, although, Bryans story of how they met, during his speech, went slightly differently:

It was just another ordinary night at Number dance club, Bryan sporting a pair of R69 Mr Price Jeans and an open neck collard shirt and Caroline a little black number.
Now apparently Bryan says that he is not good at one liners and the only time that he has ever broken the ice first is behind his bar when watching the rugby.

Bryan's opening liner was a gem. Bryan danced up to Caroline, caught her eye, and the first and only thing that he managed to say was…

Howsit, would you like to dance?

Bryan said, how funny it was that, that was the only thing that was needed to say in order to convince the most stunning woman he had seen to move closer to him.
And as the saying goes, the rest is history. Bryan had met and fallen in love with an East London girl who absolutely took his breath away.

Bryan and Caroline wanted a very simply styled wedding. Knowing how easy it is to get carried away with the excitement of planning a wedding, they made an effort to ensure it was kept very personal, even when selecting their vendors. The C Club has a rustic beauty about it, where again, simplicity is key.

All the personal relations that were woven into Bryan and Caroline's wedding day played a key part in adding extra love to the details.

Caroline's dress was made by Judy Raffin, who has been a family friend for years.

Caroline asked Kelly May to be her makeup artist, as it was a no Brainer for her.  Kelly and Caroline studied together and Kelly May was in fact one of the friends who introduced Bryan and Caroline.

Alison Le Marquand from Le Bloom Floral Art went above and beyond producing exactly what Caroline had in mind. Soft and beautiful flower details!

Caroline has been a client of Blue Zoo Hair & Beauty for the last 16 years so it was incredibly special for her to have them share the morning with her while creating masterpieces.

Jordan Reabow at CopyWorld, went out of his way with all of Bryan and Caroline's stationery requirements.

Rick Earth was the DJ for the evening and is the first person Bryan and Caroline call on for any function that they have.  He definitely knows how to get the party going, and more importantly keep everyone on the dance floor.  They are also lucky enough to have Rick as a dear friend.

Bryan and Caroline’s pastor, Jonathan King, has been a friend to Bryan for 22 odd years, having done shows together at the Alexandria playhouse.

Caroline, being a make up artist herself works with Michael Beyers Videography and Estefani Romero Photography often.  These two make a great combo.   Caroline met Steff eight years ago and on their first meeting Caroline had said to her that she would be booking her for whenever her wedding day may be. Bryan and Michael were at school together and Caroline said that she has been lucky enough to work alongside Michael with various East London Weddings.

As Bryan mentioned in his speech:

“To the best photographer and videographer that a wedding could ask for. Steff and Mike, I don’t think the two of you realize how important and special you are to not only Caroline and myself on our special day, but to the people of East London.  We are extremely fortunate to have the quality of the two of you right on our door step, and hope that every future wedding party uses the two of you. They will be definitely be doing themselves an injustice if they don’t.”

Daena, The C Clubs wedding co-ordinator was incredibly hands on and nothing was too much for her.

Bryan and Caroline added small details to make their wedding more personal where they could. How gorgeous are their table numbers?! Their table numbers were represented by their ages. When they were two, and a picture of the two of them at age two. They had family and friends help out with décor and Caroline’s incredibly talented father made most of the wooden décor used at the entrance and on the tables. Those that lasted until midnight enjoyed a shamrock pie and Steri-Stumpie, which Eastern Capers, would know is heaven at that time of the evening.

The sweet details of this wedding warms my heart and I'm sure it will warm yours too!
