Jeff and I were always in the same circle of friends in Kidds Beach growing up, but never really got to know each other properly until the end of 2010. We spent a lot of time with that group of friends over the December holidays but neither of us were brave enough to say how we really felt. We carried on spending time together over the course of the next few months, our shyness disappeared. One thing lead to another, the rest is history, 9 years down the line. How I chose my dress I am a huge fan of supporting local. I contacted Mandy at Lady Marmalaide because I had heard amazing reviews. I booked an appointment and decided to take Jeffs mom, my mom and my sister with me. On arrival, Mandy made me feel so at ease and asked me a series of questions to figure out what I had my mind set on. She picked out 5 dresses and the room was filled with emotion and excitement as I walked out in the first dress. We loved this dress, but it wasn’t the ONE. I tried on the third one, the one which I liked the least on the hanger. I put it on and walked out feeling super confident and beautiful. The room filled with gasps and tears. I knew this was the ONE. I didn’t want to take it off! Mandy had become such a special part of our day and even put up with my constant need to see this amazing dress all the time – haha! Mandy at Lady Marmalaide makes you feel like the most beautiful bride in the world and puts your mind at total ease. I highly recommend her to all future brides. Wedding style inspiration: We got engaged in June 2017. We wanted a long engagement and this is every girls nightmare because the day we got engaged I started trolling pinterest. With styles and fashion changing every so often, my mind changed a few times. It wasn’t until we went bridesmaid material shopping that I knew exactly what I wanted. I knew when I saw the material, my mind had been made up. Our style was Rustic Romance. I wanted a laid back wedding with neutral colours, as much as possible. I loved our use of dirty pink with hints of red, cream and white. Sarah May smashed all expectations as well as. I showed her the bridesmaids material and told her to go wild! I was blown away as to how well the flowers complimented my colour scheme. Special moments: We wanted picture perfect sunset for our special day but instead the heavens opened, and it absolutely poured with rain. I prayed for the rain to subside just for our day and photos. I decided that I was probably being the most selfish person. We were in fact having the worst drought in our area in many years. I prayed again and said whatever is meant to be will be. I had complete peace and calmness over me as I knew the weather didn’t matter as long as I got to marry Jeff. We celebrated in the pouring rain and had the best day with our closest friends and family.
